Navagraha Temples

Navagraha temples are dedicated to the planets, and situated around Chidambaram, Kumbakonam and Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu. Devotees believe that the planetary positions influence their lives - health and wealth. A visit to these temples are believed to rid the evil effects caused due to the change in planetary postions. There are nine temples dedicated to each planet.



Following are the temples:

Suriyanar Temple (Sun) - Temple dedicated to Sun God.

Thingaloor (Moon) - Temple dedicated to Chandran.

Vaitheeswaran (Mars) - Temple dedicated to Angarahan (Sevvai)

Thiruvengadu (Mercury) - Temple dedicated to Budha Baghawan

Alangudi (Jupiter) - This is a place where Guru Baghawan presents himself as Dakshinamoorthy.

Kanjanoor (Venus) - temple dedicated to Sukra Baghawan

Thirunallaru (Saturn) - Famous for Sri Saneeswara Baghawan for whom a separate sanctum is provided. The temple is Sri Dharparanyeshwarar's Temple.

Thirunageswaram (North Lunar node) - temple dedicated ot Naganatheswarar (Ragu)

Keelaperumpallam (South Lunar node) - temple dedicated to Kedhu Baghawan
